I know I left them up there way too long. They are too cute and we just love watching them. They are too big and will be seperated from their mom today. She will be banished from the house for a few days and they will find their new home on the back porch. Next week at the birthday crop some lucky scrapper might get a kitty!
Taylor and Jimmy left on July 1st for Wisconsin. They were traveling with his brother Fred, who flew in from Medford Oregon and met up with them at the airport, his mom and Jimmy's niece Kim. Kim's son David graduated this past May and didn't make the trip. They flew into Minneapolis and rented a mini van/mini suv kinda thing and drove 4 hours to Park Falls Wisconsin where they had rented a cabin on a lake. Jimmy had shipped his rods up there so he and Taylor could fish every spare minute they weren't doing family obligations. It was really about the fishing to Jimmy and he probably wouldn't have gone if there hadn't been cabin/lake/fishing in the plans.
Every year Willa's home town has a 4th of July celebration. It has the usual small town parade. This year there was also a high school reunion planned. The school in the town is for 1st to 12th grade. Yes they are so small they have only 1 school. It is the same school Willa went to as a student. I started to say child but if you graduate from there, child hardly seems correct. They divided the graduating classes into decades instead of years. Willa is the only one from her decade and there isn't a decade before her. I guess thats what happens when you turn 90 on the trip. I hope when I turn 90 I don't feel compelled to tell everyone that I am 90 everytime I see them. From the postal carrier to the bag boy and garbage man. She tells us several times a week to in case we forget.
They saw lots of family. Taylor said everyone he was introduced to either was related or knew Willa. Small towns, they are like that.
Taylor and his Uncle Fred have a special relationship. They are like minded politically and that made for a long week for Jimmy I am sure. They are both funny and thrive on jokes and joking. I can just see Jimmy's face.
There will be a great big party celebrating Willa's life and 90 years in August. It was a surprise but they decided to tell her as it would make the planning easier and she could help with the guest list. It is the week after FGT's and I can hardly wait.
While they were gone I did a whole lot of nothing. I was hermiting. I was also conserving electricity. I turned the stove on 3 times in a week and that was for tea and brownies. I ordered out alot. My validation is this- easier just to order out for one than going to Publix, shopping, cooking and cleaning up. Works for me, well for a few days a year. Chinese, spanish, Outback, cereal, Applebee's, yogurt with fruit and brownies- those were suppers!
Taylor has 2 friends sleeping all over his room right now. Christian is here from Ohio and Carlos came in from New Tampa. They all went to the Rays game last night and stayed up way too late. I think Taylor should sleep until about noon. Carlos will leave this afternoon and Christian will be here until Saturday or Sunday.
Working on stuff for the Birthday crop today and tomorrow and nothing else much going on. Jimmy will work on Hilltop a bit this afternoon. He removed some bad wood on the building and will get it replaced sometime this weekend I guess.
There you go, the last couple of weeks in a nutshell. See why I haven't posted? nothing exciting. I bet you are already missing the kitty pictures. Admit it!
well at least we are all caught up now. no fishing pictures to share?
